Margaux Compte-Mergier

Margaux Compte-Mergier was born in Paris, in 1994. Today, she lives in Berlin and works between Paris, Berlin and Madrid.

She studied at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) in Paris, where she obtained a master's degree in theory and practice of language and the arts. Subsequently she turned to writing, cinema, theatrical performance and sculpture.

In December 2023, the Centre d’art Tignous, Art Center for Contemporary Art in Montreuil, organizes her first solo exhibition. Her sculptures were presented, in 2024, at the Exgirlfriend gallery in Berlin and at the Rio & Meñaka gallery, in Madrid. In 2025, she participates in the exhibition LOVE SHOW in collaboration with La Galerie à venir-Laura Tendil, Paris.


Her sculptures are between the observation of an ongoing ecological catastrophe and the metamorphosis of its elements. From domestic waste, such as cans, bags, plastic or discarded consumer objects, Margaux Compte-Mergier makes this material – which is so abundant and so neglected - transit by imprints, additions or alliances, in spectacular motifs such as fabulous animals and fragments of human body.
